Gemma Ann Merna is an English actress and glamour model. She is known for playing Carmel Valentine in Hollyoaks. She born on 11 October 1984 in Cleethorpes, England.
For Gemma role in the British Channel 4 series Hollyoaks, which was Gemma Merna's first major TV role, she won Best Comedy Performance in the 2007 The British Soap Awards.
In 2007's National Television Awards, she was nominated for Best Female Soap Actress.
Merna regularly poses for lads mags such as Nuts, Zoo Weekly and Loaded.
Merna was born in Cleethorpes, but when she was one year old she moved to Didsbury from where both her parents came.She is engaged to long-term boyfriend Ian Minton.
Merna used to share a house in Liverpool with on-screen sister Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes Fisher. She lived in Manchester, going to St.Georges RC High School.
On Sky Sports, Merna revealed that she is a supporter of both Manchester United F.C. and Liverpool F.C.
In a 2009 interview with Closer magazine she said that having a breast enlargement at the age of twenty-one was one of the best things she ever did and that it gave her so much confidence.
On 14 October 2009 Merna presented awards, with Alan Hinkes, for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, at the Kirkby Suite, Kirkby, Knowsley.
